1. Have Your Own Style

Successful people didn’t get to where they are by doing what everyone else did.

Developing your own voice, way of doing things, and essentially, your own brand that’s uniquely you ensures that nobody else can do what you do.

After all, this is the Age Of Individualism! Ask yourself what your strengths are, and how you can mold any task at hand to fit them. If you’re not quite sure what you’re good at, ask friends and other coworkers for input!

Sometimes, especially when it comes to evaluating ourselves, it can be hard to recognize what others see in us.

Once you know what sets you apart, use it to your advantage to find your niche.

“Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.” – Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

2. Find Out What Needs Fixing

Sadly, we don’t live in a perfect world. But if you can identify what’s not working, both within your own skill set and the industry you’re working within, you’ll actually be able to solve a lot of problems – for yourself and others.

To narrow down the list of issues, poll your target market. Ask them what’s missing from their lives or their business relationship with you/your company.

Also look at search engines and question sites like Quora to come up with a list of common problems that haven’t been addressed.

Then, from that list of “things to be improved,” have an honest conversation with yourself about what items on that list you’re capable of solving. This should be informed by both your unique skill set, and by which problems you care the most about.

The ability to correctly find your niche depends on the projects you can find to play to your strengths.

3. Figure Out How Much You Can Make

If you’ve completed the above steps to help you find your niche, it’s highly likely that you’ve got more than just one option available.

To help you narrow down those results even further, think about which niche market is going to make you the most money.

To do this, check out top products and services in your chosen fields and businesses. Take a look at the competition. Follow their blogs, and check their social media accounts. What are they saying? What are their customers saying back?

Ask yourself how you can create a product or service that offers something those existing businesses don’t.
